Romeo

Hi boys and girls here I am ,finally !
I'm Romeo the cat of Colosseo!I'm coming children..

On Monday 19th Romeo arrived at Ludgerus-School.
Before he came to our school he had been waiting for some days in the post office during the autumn holidays. Poor Romeo!
When he arrived at school on Monday the students already had gone. Poor Romeo! So he had to wait one additional day.

On Tuesday 20th  the students welcomed him with great pleasure. They were very curious when they unpacked the parcel.
First they wanted to know where exactly Romeo comes from. So we had a look at an European Map and found out where Italy is located.

We have found Italy on the European Map. Romeo travelled a long distance.

On Wednesday 20th the students took Romeo to the gym. There he enjoyed playing some games with the children.

The students welcomed Romeo in the gym.

On Friday the students visited the Catholic Library in Lippborg. It's not far from school so they could walk.
Anton accompanied them. He was very excited because he got to know the surrounding of the school for the first time.
Before they started all students had to stand in rows of two in the schoolyard.
They took a trolley for the books with them.

They crossed the stream "Quabbe" over a wooden bridge.
After 5 minutes walk they arrived at the library.

It was the first time that the students visited the library.
The librarian gave some information about the lending of books.

Romeo was enthusiastic about the great variety of the books.
There were picture books, novels and non-fiction books.
The students foraged for their favourite books and everybody borrowed one exemplar.
The librarians put them into a box and the box was fixed on the trolley.
So the students could take their books to school.

Romeo liked the visit very much.
Back at school again Romeo hopes that the students will read the books to him during the next weeks.

For two weeks the students have been adding up figures. Several days a week they have to train it.
But it's not boring because they can choose out of many different tasks.

In the box there are 10 beads. The students have to shake the box.
On the left side there are 7 beads. How many are on the right side? You can't see it but I can.
I don't prompt. Try it on yourself.

These students have a stripe with numbers from 1 to 25.
One student tells a number and one of the others has to find the right position of the number.

These two girls throw the dice. Then they have to sum up.

This girl uses counters to find her own number sentences.
I enjoy helping her.

The boys write down the successor and predecessor of a number between 1 and 25.
I don't disturb them. I listen and try to learn it, too.

On Thursday I could visit the puppet theatre in the gym of my new school together with my friends.
Some policemen performed a funny play.
The best puppet was a dog named 'Fifi'.
Together with his friend Peter he learnt a lot about road safety.

One puppet was a little bit naughty.
His name was 'Wusel'.
You can see him in the middle. He looks a bit crazy.
He told a lot of nonsense but fortunately we didn't believe it.
One of the policeman played the keyboard.
We learnt a new song about crossing the street in a right way.
I could sing it very well. It was great fun.

Some parents visited the puppet theatre too.
The policeman invited them to sing along.
But most of them didn't really sing well.
So Fifi yowled awfully. The children laughed a lot.

At the end of the performance all students received a sticker with the picture of the puppets as a memory.
I was very proud because I got a sticker on my own.

I'm very happy because this weekend I don't have to stay at school.
Yannis took me to his house. I can spend the weekend with him and his family.
The whole afternoon we played a lot with his toys.
7.11.2015
Today we visited a swimming pool together with Yannis family.
I tried to learn swimming but I have to practise a lot.
Yannis did it very well.
On this photo I'm thinking about jumping from the starting block but I didn't really dare.
Although we had a  lot of fun in the water.
After the visit in the swimming pool I had to dry my fur.

On November , 11th it's St Martin's Day.
I'm very excited because today there is a St Martin's Parade in Lippborg.
Before the parade starts there is a St Martin's Perfomance.
You can see how St Martin is sharing his coat with a poor beggar.
Yannis and some of his friends are actors. They are St Martin's guardians.
Here you can see them before the performance.
Yannis was very excited ,too.
Can you see their nice costumes and weapons?

After the performance St Martin rode on his horse through Lippborg.
A lot of children with their families went behind him with their illuminated lanterns.
Unfortunately we don't have a photo but I posted this picture for you.
I hope you can imagine.

After the parade we ate some delicious Martin's prezels. Yummy!!! They taste great!!!
Now I'm very tired.
Tomorrow we have to go back to school again.
I'm curious  about what will happen next week.

For 2 weeks the students and I have been dealing with the topic "Autumn".
We have learnt a lot about trees, leaves and fruits which you can find in Lippborg.
Do you know some of them?

You can see the leaves and the fruits of a chestnut, a beech, a maple, an oak tree and a lime- tree.
Do you know them? I do!!!
We also learnt a lot about the hedgehog.
The hedgehog uses his stings to protect against enemies.
Beetles, caterpillars, earthworms, slugs and snails are the hedgehog's favourite food.
Hedgehogs build nests to overwinter. They like places under timber buildings, in piles of brushwood or leaves or in compost heaps.
Here you can see the students during their work in the lessons.
Nick and Julian have to sense things which you find in the nature.
Here are the things they have to sense. This task is the most favourite one.

Melandro has to count animals in a forest and fill in a telly sheet.
Neele has to clap the autumn words to find out the number of syllables.

Alan has done the same work. He has additionally crayoned the pictures.
Josh has just labeled the favourite food of the hedgehog.
Finn has to match the leaves and the fruits.

Szymon, Dustin, Josefine, Lotta and Ilana are crayoning a mandala.

Philipp and Yannis are selecting and counting different kind of leaves.
Then they have to write down the numbers.

Hannah, Maja, Josefine and Sara are selecting animals which move to the left or to the right.

I enjoy the lessons very much.
Tomorrow it's my turn to sense the autumn things. I am looking forward to it.

 Dear friends,
today we lit the first candle of our Advent wreath. Here you can see it.

We sit in a circle and one of the students were allowed to light the candle.
First they asked me but I didn't dare to do it. I'm afraid of matches.
Then we sang a song about "Four candles in the Advent".
The children liked the song, me too.
Mrs Kemper read a Christmas story to us.
All students listened attentively.

You can see the Christmas book on this picture.
After listening the children illustrated the story.
Philipp was not sure what he should draw.
Alan, Julian and Dustin liked the drawing very much.
In the back of the classroom you can see the Advent calendar. It's hanging on the wall.
For every student there is a sock in which they find a small present.
I will tell you next week about the content of the socks.
I hope I will get a present, too.
Hugs and kisses from your best friend.
I'm missing you

Hello my dear friends,
there is a lot of variety at school these days.
On Friday some children came to school with their mothers.
The mothers wanted to help us baking biscuits.
Here you can see Szymon with his mother and two friends of him.
Szymon is rolling the dough. Now they have to cut out the biscuits.
On this photo you can see Yannis with his mother and his friends .
They have a lot of fun because they always taste the dough before the biscuits are cut out.
I hope they don't get a stomachache.

Here you can see Lotta with her mother and some friends.
They are making spritz biscuits. They are using a machine to produce the biscuits.
I tried to turn the hand crank myself but I wasn't successfull.
After baking the biscuits we all tried some of them.
I tell you, they are delicious. Yummy!!!
Would you like to taste them?
Perhaps we can send some to Rome. I will ask.
 Greetings from your best friend
Romeo

 Dear friends,
you don't believe what happend at school today. During the first lesson it knocked on the classroom door. The door opened and St Nicholas came into the classroom. We were very astonished. Mrs Reimer played the guitar and we sang a song for St Nicholas. He enjoyed our singing very much. Then St Nicholas asked Alan to hold on his crosier. On this photo you can see Mrs Reimer with her guitar and St Nicholas. Alan is holding on the crosier. He is very proud.
St Nicholaus had some notes about the students in his thick book. He told the students what they have done well during the last weeks. You will not believe but there was a note about me in St Nicholaus' book ,too. He told me that I was a good friend during the last weeks.I was very proud. Then the secretary Mrs Meermeier came into the classroom and brought somedelicious "Stutenkerle". I don't know the name for this delicious bakery in English. I love them. Yummy!
It's a pitty but we can't send some of them to Rome. They will only be delicious if they are fresh.
Before St Nicholas left the classroom we took a photo and sang another song about "St Nicholas' Evening". It was great. I love his red cloak and his bishop's cap. You too?
I hope I can tell a lot of news during the next days.
What about you? Are you enjoying the Christmas time? Do you miss me?
Hugs and kisses from your friend

 Dear friends,
today there was another exciting day. All students went to a theatre in Beckum. It's a town next to Lippborg. First we had to go by bus.The children took a rucksack with food and drinks with them. You can see some children of the class waiting at the bus stop. I am waiting, too.
Neele and Laura are waiting for getting into the bus. It's a very long bus. Fortunately I can go with them.

We are lucky. We are allowed to sit in the back of the bus. It is great fun.
In the theatre our seats are directly in front of the stage. The performance have not started yet.
The play is about a 'Nutcracker' and a nasty 'King of the mice'. The 'Nutcracker' has been bewitched and the leading actress helps thim together with some friends to become a human being again. Here you can see the ballet dancers with their nice costumes.
The 'Nutcracker' has got a nice costume, too. The other person is a soldier who helps the 'Nutcracker' to fight against the 'King of the mice'.
At the end of the performance the 'King of the Mice' is caught. He gives his crown away and the 'Nutcracker' is a human being again.
These are all actors of the performance.
ROMEO IN POLAND!

After a long journey, a new guest is  with us! We opened a parcel and were very excited to see Romeo and to read his journal about all his amazing adventures in Germany and United Kingdom.
He will have 23 new friends here, so don’t worry, we will take care of him.
Lots of love
Mrs E.Kukułowicz and children in class 2B

20.06.2016 On Monday I took part in the Foreign Languages Day ,that is organized every year in our school. The topic was Fashion. There was a very funny competition for children to put on as many clothes as they could during 1 minute and name all of them in English. After that children received a task to dress up a paper doll – the theme was- English speaking countries . I really enjoyed that day!
Lots of love Romeo
