Hi, I am Edward and I'm 8 years old. I come from Poland and I've never been abroad. I'm looking forward to my first adventure!

EDWARD IN UNITED KINGDOM

09.10.2015

Edward has had such a busy week! He has taken part in an Art after school club, learned some French, taken part in a play with the magistrates and he has now gone to spend the weekend with one of his new friends...

25.10.2015

On Saturday our school held our Autumn Fair - Edward came too and helped on the Y6 chocolate raffle - he was very busy! It is now half term so Edward has gone off to spend a whole week at Rumaysa's house...I wonder what fun he will have?

We have been learning all about the Mayans this half term. Four our exit event we went to The World Museum in Liverppol. Edward came too and what a fabulous day we all had....

Over half term I spent a fun-filled week at Rumaysa's house. When I got back to school it was Bonfire night so I went to Blackpool with Zain to see the illuminations and a firework display - what a fantastic time I had.
Our new topic is called 'Out of Africa' - I have been learning about a scientist called Charles Darwin and we had a special visitor in school this week that showed us different kinds of fossils including dinosaur bones!

Today we have been practising for the schools winter show, it was really noisy because I sat with Adam who was playing the drum! We will be singing two songs and playing musical instruments - I am really excited because it will be my first show in England! Mrs Owens is going to take photographs of our dress rehearsal and she promises to put them on Twinspace so you can see me playing the drums!! Guess what - next Wednesday I am going to the theatre to see 'The Wizard of Oz'!

THURSDAY FUN!

What an unusual and funny day I have had...It has rained all day, we couldn't go out to play, we couldn't do PE. BUT we did have a wonderful singing assembly and I got to show some visitors our classroom and the display about me and the other travelling teddies...This afternoon instaed of PE I got to see some of my wonderful friends in Poland by looking at Twinspace... I was so excited to see all my lovely friends! This afternoon we read our class novel - War Horse- it is a book about a very brave horse called Joey, I helped Halima read some of the words (they were a bit tricky)...I am going home to Mrs Owens house tonight to get ready for a special party this weekend. Watch this space I will post again soon - bye everyone.

PANTOMIME TIME!!
Today I went to see 'The Wizard of OZ'. We had to walk in the pouring rain to catch the bus - it was a double decker and we sat on the top deck! When we got to the centre we were so excited...there were lots of children from other schools in Bolton and I said 'Hello' to them.

When the show started I sat with Alli, the actors wore bright and colourful costumes and they sang beautifully. My favourite character was the 'wicked witch' - she was funny and scary at the same time! Alli did not like the witch, I took care of him by giving him a big cuddle every time she came on the stage.
We joined in with the singing and the children kept shouting 'He's behind you' every time the ghost came on the stage - it was very loud but a lot of fun!
Also this week we have been writing to our new penfriends in Spain - my friend is called Miranda, Asiyah helped me to write a letter to her. We have made Christmas cards for our friends in France - we also made cards for my dear friends and teacher back in Poland (and Ollie too of course!). I have had a busy but fun week and...I am off to stay at Adil's house for the weekend!!

10.12.2015

Last Saturday I went to stay at Sabeeha's house - she took me to the famous Manchester market - there are lots of photos in my travel book for you all to see...I had a wonderful day trying lots of treats and shopping...

16.12.15
Today was a very special day at The Valley School - all the children who had been chosen for 'Star of the Term' went on an exciting visit - they went to see Santa on the Santa Express, Habiba took me with her. We went on a steam train ride to Rawtenstall and back through rural Lancastrian landscapes. The grotto in Bury was beautifully decorated and we sang Christmas carols and listened to a traditional brass band. There were lots of colourful Christmassy Characters and fairies AND we met Santa and his crew of happy helpers, they handed gifts out to the children as well as a mince pie and drink to the teachers.
17.12.15
Another fun-filled and exciting day for me today! I went with Mrs Owens and some very special children to Manchester's Winter Wonderland - it is an indoor fair with lots of rides and activities - we watched the Sooty and Sweep show, the Disney princess show and went on lots of rides. I helped to look after some of the children's wheelchairs while they went on rides (I WAS A BIT SCARED ...) We were all very tired by the end of the day and had a snooze in the school mini bus on the way back...what a fantastic day with some very well behaved and extra special children...

18.12.15

Today Mrs Owens and the children were very excited - they received a beautiful Chritmas card from Mrs Kukulowicz and my children – you should have seen their faces, they were thrilled! Aneek was very excited because Mrs Owens said he could have the stamps from the envelope to add to his collection. I taught the children how to say ‘Merry Christmas’ in Polish and Tamara helped me because she was born in Poland! Wesołych Świąt

19.12.2015
Schools in UK have now finished for the Christmas break - I am going to stay with Maryam for two weeks! Maryam doesn't celebrate Christmas but she is going to take me on lots of adventures over the next two weeks - including a trip to London, a shopping trip to the Trafford Centre, visiting relatives in Preston and Leicester and a trip to the cinema...I will post lots of photographs in January when we get back to school.
Wishing everyone from Poland, Germany, Rome and the UK a happy winter break...Wesołych Świąt, Fröhliche Weihnachten, buon Natale...
Merry Christmas everyone - see you all in 2016! Love from Edward, Mrs Owens and the children of The Valley Community School xx

EDWARD IN GERMANY

January 27th, 2016
Dear friends at home! Today I've arrived in Germany! Children of grade 1 welcomed me in their classroom. They unpacked the parcel and hugged and kissed me a lot. They were very interested in my diary. Mrs Kemper read the first pages and showed the pictures. Meanwhile there is a lot to see in my diary. It's a great pity that you haven't seen it yet.I promise that I will take care of it.
The students are very young. I think that I will feel fine here. I hope that you are fine, too.
Greetings and hugs from Germany.

Dear friends in Poland,
today there was a lot of activities at school.
During the last two weeks the students dealt with the topic "Healthy Breakfast at school" .
First they checked their lunchboxes and classified the foodstuff into categories like "drinks, vegetable, fruit, cereal products, dairy products, etc.
Than they got to know the food pyramid so that they could evaluate their breakfast which they had brought with them.

Here you can see the food pyramid. Do you already know it?
The green  colour means that you can eat a lot of it, the red colour means that you shall only eat few of the foodstuff because there is a lot of fat or sugar in it.
The students considered which foodstuff they wanted to bring for a healthy breakfast to school.
On the right you can see the posters of the groups.
They cut the pictures out of leaflets.
They wrote a shopping list and every student had to bring something to school for the healthy breakfast on Friday.

Together with six mothers and me the children prepared their own healthy breakfast on Friday.
We baked whole grain rolls, a whole grain bread, we washed and cut vegetables and fruit and we stirred quark with herbs.

Here you can see the delicious homemade foodstuff.
I liked the rolls best!
Yummy!!!

The students and me are enjoying our healthy breakfast.
Mrs Kemper and some of the children changed the seating arrangement so that we had a big breakfast table.
Some mothers had breakfast with us.

So it's not boring here in Lippborg.
What about you? Do you like Anton?

Greetings and hugs
Edward

Hello Poland,
today we celebrated the carnival at school. In the morning the children came to school disguised. There were a lot of nice costumes. Here you can see some of them.
Maja wears an Indian costume, Josefine is a princess, Sara is Pippi Langstrumpf and Neele is an owl.
Alan came as a pirat. I like the costume very much.
The boys like Ninjas and Star Wars.
We sang a lot and played games in our classroom.Mrs Reimer played the guitar for us.
Do you like Ilana's nice dress? She is an ice princess.
Laura is a cheerleader.
After the time in the classroom we celebrated together with all the children in the gym. That was a lot of fun. Some of the students performed a dance, played sketches and sang songs for us. Some parents took part in the performance, too. Next year I want a costume on my own. I would like to wear a Star Wars costume. Hope that you have nice days in Poland.
Hugs and kisses,
Edward
